Studio 4 (Page 18 of the Autumn Arts Trail brochure) is as tidy as it can be, the heater is on, the lime and ginger drizzle cake is pretty good - I've just tested it 😏. Plein air landscapes and still life paintings are on the walls.
If having a good nosy around artists' studios is your thing, then it's all here as a part of the @autumnarts24 trail!
Down the yard you'll also find vibrant rugs by @studiotuft and contemporary jewellery from @fionnaheskethjeweller who have beautiful things to tempt you at Studio 6 in the brochure .
Not far away at 2 Bowbridge Lane (Studio 7) @kimjarvisartist is showing lovely atmospheric coastal and local landscapes.

This little picture 'Small harvest' will be on the wall in my studio at the weekend, open as part of the Autumn Arts Trail @autumnarts24
The peaches were grown in her allotment greenhouse by an old friend, and were crying out to be painted. I was really pleased with the resulting painting; the colours were a joy.
The studio is open from 11am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday this weekend 12th/13th October, and next 19th/20th. There are still-life and landscape paintings on offer, and cake!

@oneofmanycharity We got back from a week in Italy to this lovely 1/many postcard from @jo4edart shining a Beacon of light into the September post-holiday gloom. I will be donating to @miscarriageassociation to add a bit more to the humungous amount raised by @danibowkettwilletts who jumped out of a plane at 10 000 feet on a fundraising skydive in July 😳
@oneofmanycharity is the brainchild of the brilliant printmaker @johnapedder and charities little and large have benefitted so far from this simple but genius scheme.

Two sketchbook drawings from yesterday's walk. One in situ, one roughed out and then finished at the kitchen table, both using @carandache #neocolor2 wax pastels. I love them, they're perfect for this sort of trip when I'm not feeling the painting urge. Less than half a mile from home, a view I've drawn before towards the community farm, and then a wonderful blue polytunnel on the #uplandsallotments, seen from the track alongside the fence. It reminded me that I need to get back inside the fence to paint soon... Painting urge revived!

Great painting day out in good company at @leafandground in Dursley today with @melcooperpowell_artist @awaddellart and @bloomz.art
Not as hot as it threatened to be, quite breezy, but a lovely place to paint; lunch, coffee and loos near at hand.
These paintings are testing a (very) limited palette; @mhpaints Yellow Lake, Scarlet Lake and Ultramarine, plus Warm White. It's amazing how many colours that combination will produce! The painting of the pond was only just over 30 minutes'-worth as the roar from the tractor cutting the grass round us and the Combine Harvester in the next field made concentration tricky!

Today our wonderful daughter in law Dani, her amazing mum Lel, and best mates Sophie and James jumped out of an aeroplane at 10 000 feet to raise money for @miscarriageassociation - it's been postponed because of the weather conditions 3 times, but today the stars, (+ wind and sunshine) aligned, and off we all went to @goskydiveuk
It was really well organised, with ALL the safety checks, and cheerful and reassuring staff for the last minute nerves - an amazing morning. The adrenalin fuelled crew have raised around £3.5k for the charity; so proud of them all!

A brief but lovely solo painting trip to South Wal

A brief but lovely solo painting trip to South Wales, thwarted to some extent by the weather, which meant more drawing in my sketchbook than painting. Finally got the brushes out this afternoon on the banks of the River Usk. Really enjoying the work until about 40 curious visitors arrived - there was no sign of them when I got there! Swipe to see what can make a painter clear up and clear out faster than I thought possible. It was only about 30 metres to the stile and the road, but I set a personal best to get there! 😳

Great day taking part in Stroud's Inaugural Plein

Great day taking part in Stroud's Inaugural Plein Air competition with @melcooperpowell_artist in dreadful weather! Thunder and torrential rain in the night, and deluges most of the day. We found a glass roof to shelter under in The Walled Garden - thankyou to Abigail and the staff @museuminthepark for permission to paint there. Well done to @stroudartcoop for setting up a very inclusive and friendly event! Roll on next year!

VOTES FOR WOMEN! One of my most treasured possessions- my grandmother's membership badge from the Newcastle branch of the Women's Social and Political Union -WSPU. I wear it for every election, and will pass it on to my daughter one day. Swipe for a street photographer's snap of my grandma Isabella Gair and my mum Sheila, then aged 16 in 1939. @sitefestival Open Studios is finished for another year. The cake is eaten, the washing up done, the signs have been collected.
Thankyou to everybody who came to see @thefox_artist and me at the top of our very steep stairs, who bought cards, prints and paintings, and brought us lovely conversations and enthusiasm. It's been a pleasure to meet old friends and new. We honestly appreciate your commitment. 🥂Here's to the next one! See you all next year!
